CHF National Teddy Bears' Picnic 2010

Children's Heart Week fell between the May 8th 2010 and May 16th 2010.  As part of our celebration and awareness raising campaign we encouraged heart families to get out and about to enjoy some leisure time together.

To mark the end of Children's Heart Week on Sunday May 16th 2010, CHF held a real-life Teddy Bear's Picnic at Fulham Palace in London.  Families were invited to bring along their children to spend an afternoon in the great outdoors in support of our organisation.

Fulham Palace was a truly spectacular location for our picnic.  Once enclosed by the largest moated site in England, its gardens have been home to many of the country’s botanical ‘ firsts’.  The medieval Great Hall has been the scene of royal banquets and excavations of the site have revealed both Roman and Neolithic artefacts.  Today the Palace’s stately rooms house an intriguing museum that interprets the site’s extraordinary history; a relaxing café-bar within a graceful drawing room which overlooks the extensive botanic gardens; and an elegant gallery space that provides an innovative programme of Palace-inspired art.  You can find out more about the venue by visiting the Fulham Palace website.

If families were unable to travel to London, we  produced a "Picnic Toolkit" outlining a few ideas for their own Teddy Bears' Picnic.  Even though Children's Heart Week 2010 has passed you may still wish to hold your own Teddy Bear's picnic using our toolkit for reference.
