Bury based motorway recovery operators Mark Luntley and Joe Frankland tested a 1987 Reliant Robin to the limits of its name by taking the plucky three-wheeler to Rome and back in aid of Children’s Heart Federation.
Mark and Joe were inspired to raise money for CHF by Gabe, the young son of a workmate who was born with a heart condition.
They held a pre-challenge fundraising event in support of CHF and their three-wheeled adventure was featured in the Bury Times both of which helped make their fundraising efforts such a great success.
A huge thank you to Mark and Joe who enjoyed their challenge so much that they are planning on doing it all again! We hope that their border-crossing exploits will serve as inspiration for anyone looking for an original way to support children with heart conditions.
The Home2Rome challenge is described as Europe’s biggest banger rally where each vehicle entered must be worth less than £150. For more information on Home2Rome go to: www.home2rome.co.uk
