Give money and other items
There are lots of different ways of donating money and other gifts to the Children's Heart Federation. These include:
- Online donation
- Direct debit - regular gifts enable the charity to plan ahead.
- If you are a UK taxpayer, please would you GiftAid your donation, as this will increase its value at no extra cost to you?
- Payroll giving - setting up or joining a scheme
- Giving shares
- Leaving a legacy to the Children's Heart Federation
- Celebratory gifts (e.g. for wedding anniversaries)
- Donations in memory of a loved one
Payroll giving
Payroll giving enables employees to donate from their salary to Children`s Heart Federation in a tax efficient way.
Donating before you are taxed means that money that would normally go to the Inland Revenue is given to Children`s Heart Federation instead! For example, if you want to give £10, you will only need to donate £7.80 - the Inland Revenue gives Campaign the extra £2.20.
How to start up a Payroll Giving donation
Setting up a payroll giving donation is simple. All you have to do is find out if your payroll department has a Payroll Giving scheme. If so, they will set-up your donations for you. If not, you can ask them to set one up by phoning the Charities Aid Foundation on 01732 520 000.

Giving shares
Do you have some unwanted shares from a windfall? Or perhaps you inherited a small parcel of shares that are gathering dust and are making little difference to you? You could turn these shares into something of real value by giving them to the Children`s Heart Federation, and make a difference to the lives of children affected by congenital heart disease.
What is share giving?
Giving shares to charity is not a new idea, but there is now an extra tax incentive to ensure share giving is an effective way of giving to charity. If you give shares to the Children`s Heart Federation, you can claim back full tax relief against the value of the shares.
For example, a £1,000 gift of shares will cost higher taxpayers £600 and standard rate taxpayers £720 because you can claim tax back on your giving. Giving shares to charity is also exempt from capital gains tax.
For more information about giving shares to charity, please visit HM Customs and Revenue website.
How to give shares?
You can make a gift of shares and name The Childrens Heart Federation as the charity you wish to benefit from the proceeds. Further information and advice is available at the Charities Aid Foundation or at ShareGift. Both organisations will be able to handle the gift of shares for you.
